November 2009 Newsletter
Anew NZ recently sponsored Dr. Ron Colman, international authority on the Genuine Progress Indicator (www.gpiatlantic.org and www.anewnz.org.nz), offering public forums in Auckland and Wellington. He also consulted with the Wellington Regional Council on the development of their regional GPI, reported to NZ Government departments in Wellington on the completion of the Nova Scotia GPI and the progress on the Nova Scotia government officially adopting the GPI - and met with Maori people to review their progress since he participated in their two day workshop on GPI in 2006. (See www.anewnz.org.nz) They have subsequently developed a two year tertiary curriculum in GPI at the Te Wananga o Raukawa (the only known one in the world) and produced a GPI for their Otaki campus. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See Ron in action on http://www.celsias.co.nz/article/what-matters-most-new-zealanders/, courtesy of Chris Tobia who interviewed him at the time in addition to making a video. Jennifer Kerr also video recorded the entire two hours in Auckland enabling us to further promote GPI for New Zealand. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A decision was subsequently made for Anew NZ to make three quality ten minute videos targeted to:
This is being done in collaboration with the Transition Town Network.
This set of videos will be designed to be used on Utube, websites, blogs, etc. to educate and promote public engagement in developing GPI’s for community and for the nation (in the “What Matters Most to New Zealanders” project – see www.anewnz.org.nz). In addition to the videos a Community Instruction Manual will be written to enable New Zealand communities to develop their own local GPIs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Invitation to contribute to this project The production costs of the three videos are estimated at $10,000, which includes additional filming and editing. The Community Instruction Manual will cost $7,000.
We are currently receiving financial contributions for this project. Please forward your cheque contributions to Anew NZ, Box 11 Greenhithe, Northshore City or direct bank deposit to ASB Bank 123136 – 0008750 - 01. |
